Introduction
Background of the Organization
NDUCN (National Disabled Unity Centre Nepal) is a non-governmental organization at the national level that is not-for-profit and is run by individuals with disabilities. The organization was established in 2011 A.D. As an organization run by the victims themselves, NDUCN is an insider in the field of disability-related organizations, and its primary goal is to protect and uphold the dignity of individuals with disabilities through awareness raising and economic empowerment. In other words, NDUCN seeks to provide support to people with disabilities for them to lead a life of dignity.
Being founded and operated by individuals with disabilities, NDUCN is committed to enhancing the economic empowerment of people with disabilities, advocating for their right to lead a dignified life, and reducing discrimination and stigma within the community. The organization works tirelessly to promote sustainable livelihoods for people with disabilities, uplift their dignity, and minimize any forms of discrimination they may face.
Mission:
NDUCN's mission is to empower individuals with disabilities in Nepal by promoting their economic independence, advocating for their right to a life of dignity, and combating discrimination and stigma within society.
Vision:
NDUCN envisions a Nepal where individuals with disabilities are valued and included as integral members of society.
Objectives of the organization
- Recognize the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities residing in rural Nepal and offer diverse forms of assistance tailored to their specific requirements.
- Deliver special educational assistance to empower Children With Disabilities (CWDs).
- Organize a range of initiatives aimed at promoting the empowerment of young people with disabilities (PWDS).
- Engage in advocacy and lobbying efforts to secure the establishment and protection of the human rights of PWDs, advocate for inclusive policy changes, and bring about meaningful transformation in local level.
- Offer training programs for skill development and a variety of economic empowerment initiatives designed to uplift PWDS.
- Carry out awareness and sensitization campaigns on disability-related issues for all stakeholders involved.
Completed activities/Achievement
- conducted a comprehensive disability awareness program Collaborate with the Federation of Nepal Indigenous People in Baglung 2068 B.S..
- Provide scholarship assistance to 16 students with disabilities aged between 4 and 16, ensuring their continuous education for a decade collaboration with ACC at Sindhupalchok District.
- Host cultural events, including drama performances in 2069, to actively promote awareness about disabilities in kathmandu.
- Coordinate a blood donation program at Kirtipur coordinating with local Community Service Center.
- Extend relief aid to earthquake victims in Sindhupalchok and Kavre during the massive 2015 earthquake, working in partnership with other organizations.
- Facilitate interaction sessions to advocate for and lobby on behalf of people with disabilities, involving six municipalities in the Sindhupalchok district. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with Rotary Club Jawalakhel and the Abilies Foundation. (Capacity Building)
- Completed noodle making training to 15 PWDs and establish a noodle factory at Kirtipur in support with TLM Nepal -FOUND project and Social Development provincial ministry in 2022.
Future plan
- Continue to enhance our public awareness and disability sensitization programs, making them even more impactful.
- Host advocacy and lobbying initiatives, fostering engagement with local government entities at various levels to promote disability-inclusive policies and accessibility.
- Extend specialized educational support to children with disabilities.
- Forge robust partnerships and networks with other NGOs, INGOs, and like-minded organizations.
- Organize diverse capacity-building training programs aimed at empowering young individuals with disabilities.
- Offer skill development training and diverse income-generating activities to enhance the economic independence of people with disabilities.
- Provide training programs for entrepreneurship development.
- Implement peer counseling and mentorship programs.
- Strengthen our preparedness for emergency relief efforts and other logistical support
